- The 2020 Best in KLAS report has ranked Epic Systems as number one in the Overall Software Suite category for the tenth consecutive year.

The company was also named the top Overall Physician Practice Vendor, beating out other industry leaders like athenahealth, NextGen Healthcare, and Cerner.

Other vendors recognized for their superior EHR solutions included MEDITECH, which claimed the top spot for acute care, and Harmony Healthcare IT, which won for data archiving.

As healthcare continues to put more emphasis on value, key industry players will look for products that enable streamlined, quality care delivery.

“Providers and payers demand better performance, usability, and interoperability from their vendor partners every year,” said Adam Gale, President of KLAS Research. “Best in KLAS winners set the standard of excellence in their market segment. Earning a Best in KLAS award should both excite and humble the recipients. It serves as a signal to providers that they should expect only the best from the winning vendors.”

The industry’s dedication to value is evident in newer segments of the market, such as population health management. Enli swept the population health management category, coming out ahead of SPH Analytics, Epic, Lightbeam, and last year’s winner HealthEC. Enli’s population health management solution achieved an overall score of 92.4, earning A’s for culture, loyalty, relationship, and value.

In the business intelligence and analytics category, Dimensional Insight once again came out on top, achieving a score of 93.4 for its innovative platform.

"Year after year, Dimensional Insight has posted stellar scores in the Best in KLAS report. What this means for our customers is that they are able to see demonstrable – and unparalleled – outcomes improvement as a result of using our analytics platform," said Fred Powers, CEO and co-founder of Dimensional Insight.

"This honor is a testament to not only our customers and the innovative ways they are using analytics for transformative change, but also to our employees who work relentlessly to ensure customer success."

Jvion won in the healthcare artificial intelligence solutions segment, receiving a score of 86.0, while Strata Decision Technology bested Change Healthcare and EPSi in the business decision support category, earning a score of 90.6.

“We are incredibly proud to be the No. 1 in KLAS for the sixth consecutive year, and especially to be recognized again by our clients for our ability to help them get accurate, accessible and actionable information on cost,” said Dan Michelson, Chief Executive Officer of Strata.

“Hospitals and healthcare delivery systems have been flying blind when it comes to understanding the cost of care. We feel very fortunate to be able to help our customers tackle this challenge as they seek to improve financial and clinical outcomes, driving more value for their providers, their organization and the communities that they serve.”

3M earned top honors in the speech recognition and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) categories, achieving a score of 92.4 for its speech recognition software and 91.7 for its CDI solution. This marks the company’s fourth consecutive year as the leader in speech recognition.

“With the shift to value-based care, clinicians are under immense pressure to ensure accurate, complete and compliant documentation,” Mark Colin, President of 3M Health Information Systems, said in a press release.

“By applying our advanced artificial intelligence and speech understanding technologies to improve workflows and deliver real-time clinical insights, we can help clinicians and CDI teams achieve better quality documentation, while creating more time to care for patients. We thank our customers for choosing 3M as their vendor partner and for giving the M*Modal software high marks in KLAS interviews for overall product quality, service, vendor confidence and value.”

Dolbey and Nuance took the second- and third- place spots for their speech recognition solutions, while Nuance also came in second for its CDI software.

In the imaging software segment, Philips earned top honors for cardiology, followed by Siemens, Fujifilm, and IBM Watson Health. Sectra won for its picture archiving and communication system (PACS) software, beating out Change Healthcare, Fujifilm, and GE Healthcare.

“When our customers improve their quality of healthcare and become more efficient by using our solution, we have succeeded,” said Dr. Torbjörn Kronander, President and CEO of Sectra. “Happy users are the ultimate proof of customer satisfaction and it’s an honor to be acknowledged for it.

The 2020 Best in KLAS rankings show that the industry is committed to quality and value, with both familiar names and newcomers investing in advanced analytics and innovative business intelligence tools.
